About this place
Tucked into a residential pocket of Maenocho in Itabashi, Hexen Haus is an unpretentious restaurant serving approachable Western-style comfort dishes alongside an eclectic everyday menu. Meat lovers can choose domestic cuts such as sirloin steak or ribeye steak, while those seeking homestyle bakes will find classic doria with white sauce, macaroni gratin with white sauce, and penne gratin baked in tomato sauce.
The kitchen looks well beyond standard Western diner fare, extending to vegetable-laden ankake yakisoba, tonkotsu ramen topped with homemade chashu pork, jumbo fried gyoza dumplings, and salt-grilled tuna collar. For drinks, the appetizer list provides simple accompaniments such as oysters preserved in oil, anchovy-stuffed olives, pickles, and thinly sliced sweet new onion.
Drink options span beer, wine, cocktails, and hard liquors including whisky. Seating comprises both counter spots and regular tables, making it an easy drop-in for a quiet solo drink or a full meal. Dinner service runs from Monday to Saturday, opening at 18:00 and closing at 23:00, with Sundays closed. Lunch is also served, and table reservations are accepted.
